Default Just changed my plugs/wires and valve cover gasket

So i had a few hours off work today and seeing how it was a gorgeous day i got around to working on the GS. I put new ngk iridium single prong plugs as well as ngk wires. I also put in new valve cover gaskets since i had everything torn apart. When i was doing the plugs i saw a sticker under the hood that said use double prong platinum plugs only. Howevever i put in single prongs made of iridium. I started the car up and oh my how smooth it runs. I mean not one tiny vibration when you are sitting inside. The car has 97k miles and it was on original plugs and wires. I have been consistant on getting no more no less than 22 miles per gallon with 90 percent freeway driving. Hopefully this makes that number jump up by a mile or so. Im very pleased with the results, now all i have to do is put on this timing belt and water pump i have sitting in my garage. Milan if youre lookin at this thread thanks for coming by i appreciate it lol.

Wires? Maybe I need to look at my engine again. I thought we had ignition coils on top of the plug, not a distributor cap with wires running to the plugs.

GS300 has coil-pack's on cylinder 2, 4, and 6. The three spark plug wires go from the coil-packs to the remaining cylinders.

GS400/430 use a coil-on-plug setup that eliminates the need for spark plug wires.

Well, I can't complain much...paying for three 3 wires instead of coils is much cheaper. I plan on changing my plugs once the spring comes around. I will change the wires on 1, 3, and 5 since I will be changing the plugs. Probably should do the VC gaskets at the same time too.

I really didnt need to on mine but seeing how everything was apart i said might as well. Im trying to get every single maintanance item out of the way so i know my car will be treated right. Im kind of **** like that if i dont do everything it will bother me and ill keep thinking about it. But the plugs and wires are must make sure you only buy denso or ngk iridium, those are good enough for toyota theyre good enough for me.

Yeah, I plan on using NGK Iridium IX. I think the part number is BKR6EIX-11. Then there is a NGk Laser Iridium...heck both plug should function the same. I think the latter plug is OE. IFR6T-11

Thanks. I will go with the Laser Iridium. On RockAuto, there is only a .40c difference between the two plugs, with the OE being the more expensive.

^good buy....I have had experiences with these IX's on several cars. They don't exactly perform the way NGK says they do. I tend to believe its the copper ground
