Default Pennzoil Ultra Synthetic Oil. worth it?

pennzoil claims the Pennzoil Ultra Synthetic Oil will make your engine up to 40% cleaner. did anyone try it out? and do you think it worked?

i just changed oil last week. used pennzoil ultra, and it's probably the same as other over the counter synthetic. i chose pennzoil because it was the less expensive than mobil1 and castrol.
does it work? when i drained out my previous pennzoil fill, it was dark. you never know unless you tear down your motor.

my next oil purchase will be https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gre...e-walmart.html

Good oil but not worth the extra amount vs. the cheaper Penn Platinum. Also any syn changed in proper oci's will keep your motor clean. I don't use synthetic, I use Mobil dino oil changed every 5k...will keep my motor running the same amount of miles vs. the more expensive synthetic.

Also I will put this out, if you are using synthetic and changing it every 3-5k, IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY. Point blank and simple. Synthetic oil in our engines can go 8k easily between changes.

Run Eneos oil in your engine. That's the best you can get.

I used to run my full synthetic oil to 10k before changing it out and have never had a problem. I'd do that with this vehicle to but it's either burning or losing oil somewhere.

Pennzoil Ultra is a super awesome fantastic long-drain-capable oil that has great additives and a exceptionally strong TBN, with suburb TBN retention and low TAN acidity escalation. You don't need it. It's certainly a top-shelf oil, but Pennzoil Platinum will serve you just as well. If the difference between the oils is that Plat will take you to 500K miles, and Ultra will take you to 750K miles, it's a waste of money.

I'm really not certain why Shell Oil Products US (SOPUS) came out with Ultra. They didn't market it well, they didn't differentiate it from Platinum very well, and it's kinda over kill for most people. If you are doing extremely long oil drains, or putting it in your race car then it's probably worth it, otherwise I'd pass and buy the platinum. Plat is a great Group III synthetic that routinely turns in fantastic results.

It's like Mobil 1 used to claim their Fully Synthetic can last up to 10k easy, then later on came out with Extended Performance Fully Synthetic can last up to 15k easy. If you just change the oil earlier then there wouldn't be any necessary.

My friend i have had a drivers license for 9 years( i know thats not alot compared to some of you) and i have owned over 25 cars from muscle cars, to turbos, to euros to jeeps and everything in betweem. Ive used every type of oil there is out there, and you know what?? Not one difference as far as i can humanly tell. Then i again i dont track my car at 120 miles an hour for 8 hours straight. Obviously ive been doing something right by buying whatever is a good deal at the time. Just my 2 Abraham Lincolns.

I use mobil 1 full synthetic and i agree with D-Boi I can't tell any difference however when i started using full synthetic on my bike it did make a difference so i do think its better to use synthetic but if you're changing your oil every 3-5k mile then you're wasting money change every 7-8k or so and you'll be fine
