Default No Interior Lights When Opening Rear Doors

I have just purchased a 1998 GS400. Just discovered that when you open either rear door, the dome lights or puddle lights don't come on.
It's a pain cause if u unlock the doors and don't open a front door in 30 seconds, it relocks the doors.
Door ECU's?
Any helpful hints?

rear door switch might be stuck. open the door and there is a black rubber nipple. remove it and check the switch.

Thomas gs4, u have the same problem? Is the rubber nipple a inspection cover? Or are u refering to a door jamb switch? I thought the switch was in the latch?

I can unlock the doors, open a rear door and 30 second later doors will relock. Rear door still open.

Did you really read this carefully?

Anyways, If you have an aftermarket alarm system allot of those will lock the doors after a few moments automaticly. Sooooo IF you have an alarm system your lighting problem has nothing to do with the door locks. You dig?????
Im just assuming this cause my car does not lock itself automaticly.

Nevermind Im an idiot . Just went outside and hit the unlock on the key and waited.......Doors locked themselves in about 30 sec. Oh well never knew about this feature. Sounds like there is some good info in the link thomasgs4 posted, although there is no conclusion. Did you get the door module and did it fix your problems? Part #69140 ????

The nipple I was reffering to is the door jamb switch. If the switch is stuck, it will show the computer that the door is shut.

The car will lock by itself if you got stock security alarm and only if you used the key fob to unlock the doors, then it will automatically lock the doors after a certain time.

I thought the switch was intergrated into the latch?

I need a pic of a door ecu. Is it a stand alone box? Intergrated into the door speaker? In the latch?
