Default anybody had problems with programming homelink garage door opener?

I have been meaning to ask this here for long time but keep forgetting so here it is.
I am having trouble programming homelink on my gs3.
I followed instructions on manual several times but somehow my homelink can't be program to open/close my garage door. I bought my garage door opener at sears. Does anyone know how to program it properly? maybe I am doing something wrong.
thanks

I've had the same problem before. Might be that certain brands don't work with Homelink???

I've got a '98 GS.
And I believe its a sears brand garage door opener also.

follow the instructions. it takes a looooong time before it actually sets, so don't get discouraged. freakin took like half a minute or something for me.

Default Instructions

in the Lexus owners manual are confusing in that they do not advise you "up front" that for many of today's systems "setup" is a two step process. Read the instrctions carefully, when you get to the point where you think you have completed the "read" go ahead and read the next few paragraphs anyway.

The first step is to "train" or "teach" the vehicle's homelink system which of the three frequencies your garage door opener uses. Once this is completed your homelink system knows which frequency to use for the second step. The second step is then used to bring the rolling, or fixed, security code(s) into synchronization between the opener and the homelink.

To do that last step, wwest mentioned, you have to press a button on the garage door opener. Mine is located under the light cover. Do the first step, then go press the button on the actual opener then run back and press the button you choose to use. I had no problem.

The Sears openers have a rolling code. All you have to do is to clear the old codes, press the learn button under the light, then press the button you're going to use in your car, several times until the learn light goes off. The opener has just learned the sequence built into your integral controls.

Make sure the battery in the controller is strong so it emits a strong signal to Homelink.

Default CLEAR THE OLD CODES ??!!

David,

I hope you mean clear the old codes in the vehicle's homelink, cleariing the old codes in the opener would instantly disable ALL other (previously programmed) remote openers.

And you skipped a step. The vehicle's homelink system can use any of three(?) widely disparate frequencies. You must "train" you vehicle's homelink to use the proper frequency (hold a working, "activating", remote nearby) of those available/possible before you can begin to synchronized the security codes, fixed or rolling.

And only the "newer" openers, Sears, etc, use a rolling code. I would guess that there are hundreds of thousands of fixed code openers still out there giving reliable service.
