My JZS161 conversion (2JZGTE V160)
Well basically i sold my S13 track drifter to buy this. One because ive wanted one since back in 2009 when i went to japan and rode around in a friends one and fell in love instantly, and two, i wanted a nice/fast car to drive on the road again and enjoy every day.
Parts i had before i even bought the car :P. in kind of chronological order of purchase:
JZA80 V160 Getrag 6 speed and twin plate clutch
JZS161 2JZ-GTE motor with loom and computer
JZA80 Clutch/brake pedals and clutch master cylinder
Jzx100 Hand brake assembly
JZS161 front grille
JZS161 door sil plates
JZS161 rear boot garnish
RS-R Black series Coilovers (18k front and 16k rear springs)
Tanabe Hyperflow rear mufflers to suit JZS161
A video that spurred on my inspiration for the project:
Then i found a car
2001 GS300. I am the third owner, paid 11k for it, so im pretty stoaked!
I waited around for a while for a decent one to come up that had the black interior as it felt more like a swanky business car to me over the Tan. Which is what i want it to feel like on the inside permanently.
I only have photos of after i put the coilovers in because it was the first thing i did when i got it home :P
This one is with the coilovers as log as they could go. It would have literally been railing.
Other things ive bought and are currently in transit from Japan
-LED red/clear tail lights
-LED clear side indicators
-KAAZ 2 way LSD
- Trust front mount kit to suit JZS161
-A **** ton of Genuine toyota parts to do a major service on the 2J before it goes in (only has 85,000kms on it), as well as parts i need to do the conversion such as radiator hoses and parts like thrust bearings etc for the gearbox. oh and a factory 6 speed gear ****.
It was SO much cheaper to buy all this from japan. it was ridiculous what my local Toyota parts dealer was charging!! (ps if you need anything i can get it for you )
Also i have placed an order for a set of Work CR Kiwami in 18x9.5 +20 all round. These are a brand new wheel in Works' Emotion series of wheels and they wont have stock until the end of september unfortunately
picture for reference:
Things i bought but no longer want:
Silk Blaze front lip kit to suit JZS160/161
Information im keen too know:
Adjustable Arms. the only type ive found so far are Ikeya Formula and 326 Power and they are a bit on the expensive side. Anyone know of anything else out there???
Anything i should know wiring wise before i start putting the puzzle together?
i know about the ignitor wiring for the dash. and also that the VSC wont work without the trac control computer.
other than that i just have to bypass the neutral switch for the auto?
Thanks

wow! thanks for all the comments. really is a good motivator!
the FMIC kit i ended up getting for about 65,000JPY delivered to my door with EMS shipping. Its a fantastic kit, very high quality as expected and it comes with everything you need. Including things needed to relocate the powersteering line and the horn! Its all bolt on!
Driveshaft isnt a problem as i live not far from a truck shop that makes custom drive shafts. All i have to do is take in the gearbox yoke and the diff uni and tell them how long i want it and they do the rest
My heap of toyota parts arrived yesterday, so im going to start freshening up the gearbox and engine with all the new bits and bolt them together ready to go in the car .
