Hey Man,

I'm in Brisbane and looking fwd to my second JS160 to arrive in the next couple weeks, bought it yesterday...I love your progress and it's good to see your obviously headed in the right direction!

What year is your car again...it doesn't seem like a 2001?

Cool car mate!

I just bought a 'real' Aristo a week or two ago and plan on taking it back with me on return to Australia. If you need any help, give me a yell! I owned a JZS147 Aristo before I came to Japan 5 months ago.

How are you getting your V300 into Australia? I've looked into tons of avenues to bring one in from overseas but to no avail. It's not like Australia has a vibrant local car industry (hell, everything bar the Commodore and Falcon/Territory is imported from Korea or Germany anyway). Stupid Aussie protection laws...

Sounds to me like christodav is bringing it in as a personal import. all protection laws are negated in this case good stuff!!

Yep Private Import for me.

But you are correct. the way the law stands in Australia, the only way you can import a JZS160/161 Aristo is via Private Import. ie own the car overseas for 12 months or more to be allowed to do so. Go to the Aust Govt website mate if you want to read all about it?

Basically, the laws are there simply to so-called 'protect the local market'. You cannot ever import a vehicle that has already been offered by local car makers unless it is a Personal Import. Other cars, such as the JZS147, (which I used to own), are allowed under the SEVS laws. These are allowed for many reasons, but the first being that they never came to Australia as a Toyota or LEXUS. SEVS cars have to be 'special'. As Isaid, go to the website and you can read all about it!.

Very interested in this build though. My car is still stock right now.
2001 Vertex Ed, Silver, leather, 19inch wheels

A few questions.

How do you like the RSR coilovers?
I would like to know where the overflow bottle goes with the FMIC installed?
Brake upgrade?
Have you upgraded any bushes on the car yet?

Cheers,

Chris

The RSR coilovers are fantastic! with the spring rates i have, if i wind the dampeners as soft as they can go the ride is almost as comfortable as the stock suspension. Yet if i crank them right up if feels just as stiff and responsive as my S13 track car i had.

ill let you know about the overflow bottle, Its a genuine Trust kit so it comes with everything you need to get the job done.

Brake upgrade is not nessesary to me atm. The brakes are the same between the jzs160 and 161.

Nah i havent done bushes in it yet. im getting adjustable suspension arms custom made, so ill look at replacing some when they go in.

Moose161....Thank you SOOOO much for posting that video in your OP! OMG! Just made my day!!! lol

Very sharp Silver ARISTO, too! I love that the "300" models in your country are available with the 17" Sport wheels/tires. (couldn't get those wheels on the GS300 models in USA)

ANYWAY- Can't wait to see/hear more about your swap!!! Best of luck with the GTE and everything man...

LAST THING- could you please tell me what the difference between JZ161 and JZ160 is ? (is that the ENGINE or just bodystyle)

Is it --> JZ160 = '98-'00 .... & JZ161 = '01-'05 ???

THANKS FOR THE HELP ON THAT... (been wondering about that for a while)

thanks mate!

JZS160 was delivered with a 2JZGE
JZS161 was delivered with a 2JZGTE

same body etc, although the JZS160 was available with a 5sp auto.
the JZS160 was built all the way up to 05, because that is the only variant lexus sold.

Congrats on the GS i love the fact that car is RH and it has black interior. Love the drift car as well very nice. Good inspiration

I have 1 question though you said that you bought a 2JZGTE dosen't your car already come with a 2JZGTE VVT-i? Or you don't want the VVT-i TT?
