Default Door locks acting strange

A couple of days ago, I noticed my remote wasn't working as it should. It won't set the alarm, or sometimes unlock the doors. I realized it was more a door lock issue. Some lock, others don't, but nothing consistent and the problem seems to switch doors! The only consistent thing is that they don't work properly. Has anyone had this issue? Is there a way to reset the system?

Thanks in advance.

its the door lock actuators, a common problem.

I don't think everyone automatically knows about search features.

I hadn't even bought my GS yet and I knew about the door lock issue. It was a problem with the very first one I looked at. Came home, searched and viola, this is what I found:

Close all doors and lock it with the key button. Then open the doors and see which one can be opened is the one with the bad actuator.

speaking of which. I've always wanted to post, but was afraid to get flamed.

My car since I bought it does this thing in which you cant manually lock the doors (when you try, it just snaps back open) , but you can lock it either the lock button on the door, or the remote. Unlocking manually works normally.

This seems to be the inverse of everyone else's problems

This is on all four of my doors by the way. I was wondering if the previous owner had the actuators changed but it wasnt done properly or something.

anyone actuators ever behave this way? I think it could be affecting my door sensor that senses that the door is open, especially for the driver side.

Sorry to kind of derail your thread.

That doesn't quite work. I lock it and one door stays unlocked, then it resets itself, as if I pressed the unlock button. Then I lock it again and the previous door locks and another one is unlocked. It too then reset's to open. I did this sitting in the car and the problems goes from door to door. That's why I posted the question.

I've been on this forum long enough to know how search works. Every other post I read, the actuators were either failing to open, close or both.

The fact that the problem keeps changing doors, makes me think it's a different issue. I'm seeing $$$ adding up pretty quickly now.

Gotta love spending money.

I like how everyone assumes its your actuators. Get in your car and manually use the unlock/lock feature inside your car on the drivers door panel. See which doors lock and unlock. There's a Driver door mpx computer and also another one -- or I might be mistaken. It might also just need to be reprogrammed.

In my own personal car, my door locks do somewhat of the same thing. Sometimes they lock, sometimes they dont, sometimes they 'snap back' to unlock from the lock position, etc. I've driven for over a year with this issue and it doesn't seem to bother me. Sometimes I can use the key in the driver door to lock and unlock all of the doors, sometimes not. I thought about replacing all the actuators, but to me I really dont care. The rears are like $70 each and the fronts are cheap since you can get them from the avalon.

What I did was I bypassed my factory alarm and installed my own aftermarket alarm. I dont care if my doors lock because when I'm in the car I can manually lock them and so can passengers, child lock also works.

To me its not a big issue. I'd rather figure out why the steering sucks so much *** in the gs.

Is it all 4 doors, 3 doors, 2 doors? And is it random or there seems to be a pattern?

All doors and no pattern that I've seen yet.
