A/C compressor making knock/ticking noise when turned on
As of earlier tonight my GS400's A/C compressor has started making noise when the a/c is turned on. With a/c off there is no noise. It makes a tapping/knocking noise. As far as I know its still the original freon in the system for the a/c. If its low for whatever reason will it make that noise? The car has 93k on it and all scheduled maintenance. Air still blows ice cold though.... Any ideas?

Yep, be prepared. I replaced my compressor last summer.
If you hook up a set of a/c gauges you will most likely see the gauge flutter on the low side. This might be an indication your compressor is not compressing like it should, internal valve leak.
It will go slow or fast, when it does I would suggest you replace the condenser as well.
