if you use a pair of needle noise pliers then you can bend it how you would like>this is how I did mine and it works fine. This way you can move the paperclip so it doesn't get in the way of you putting the threads back in the door lock.i used a single piece of tape because the break was not clean and want to hold it in place as I put the paperclip on.If you can find them use the big paperclips they seem like they will work better

I have the same problem....not sure if my motor or this plastic piece is the issue.
Pretty sure my motor is dying, but I had to do this in order for me to manually lock the door from the inside. If I hadn't done it, the lock wouldn't stay in the lock position unless I manually lock with key..
Hmm see the thing is it wouldn't open inside nor out. But then I fixed the rod connection to the exterior and then the interior door handle cable was replaced and reconnected. What am I doing wrong? i hooked on the cable onto the handle and the other end onto the thing that goes to the actuator basing it off pictures I've seen of it installed. Does anyone have a better picture to show me how its supposed to look like if it was working fine and how exactly its supposed to move?
After dismantling the door to fix the driver door lock problem I found that my cable had broken at the threaded end. Found this thread and read about the paper clip repair. Here is what mine looks like:
The plastic threaded end of the locking cable housing broke.
Using 2 pair of needle nose pliers I was able to bend the clip to fit, cut off excess clip and wrap the ends around the cable on one end and the cable housing on the other. I rotated the clip 180 degrees so I could seat the threaded portion into the interior door handle U shaped cradle. This solved the issue as interior the door lock lever switch now manually locks/unlocks the door as designed.
to use a larger paper clip to hold the threaded plastic piece to the end body of the cable. Here are a couple of pics to share.
I had the paperclip and epoxy before, now i out the heat shrink wire wrap tubing off ebay. Works great but I had to redo it after taking the door panel off several times.
This is a pretty old thread, you can buy aftermarket cables on eBay for less than $20 if you want another easy option.
Thanks, I did see them posted on eBay. This was an instant fix though. 15 minutes looking through the forum, finding my box of paper clips, and then I was back in business. I didn't have to wait for eBay to deliver. If the paper clip trick fails, eBay will be the next step.
Never tried the paperclip but I did try glue, plastic welding and also heat shrink all of which eventually failed.
I used a piece of band iron, bent back over itself so that it's twice as thick and bent appropriately so that I can mount it to a nearby screw and point it toward the lock mechanism. Afterwards all I have to do is wrap a zip tie around the cable and the band iron at the same time and she won't move for anything.
