Default just got my dc power alt!

took them exactly one week to get it to me.

i still think they dont have the best customer service/support.
anyways, i need a little advice from you guys.

so it took them exactly one week, cost me $520 total and its supposed to be the XP model at 270 amps, BUT.

a. i got no receipt or packaging slip with my alt or anywhere in the box.
b. it has some scuffs and blemishes on the alternator.
c. nowhere on the alt does it have any kind of sticker or mark or anything that says what model or how many amps it is.

anyone else here have an alt from dc power that had similar results?
i dont like that i dont even know for sure if what i got is an xp (their top line) alt or how many amps it is. plus some of the scuffs on it make me think they just sent me a spare that was laying around the shop or something. or is this normal with custom built alts.

Looks good, I doubt anything to worry about... if you want you can get it tested to see if it does match the 270 amp its supposed to do.

But I think with the price you paid you may have gotten the 230 amp...

whats up man. damn hard to say and belive, but this baby is still just sitting in my room!!!!!!

i know, im pretty disappointed in myself, ive wanted this thing for over a year and i finally get it and its justt sitting there. =(

i didnt get a chance to put it in this weekend and ive been busy all week. full time student and working. as i told you, im a tax preparer and its last week of tax season here in the states so ive been pretty busy. wouldnt want to just rush installing it. should be pretty easy instal but i talked to my friend who is a mechanic and lives an hr away from me, he will be coming into town this weekend and he said he'd help me install it, so im just going to wait for him to install it for me. only problem is that i might be out of town when he gets here. anyways i plan on getting this thing in by the end of this weekend FOR SURE. not holding off anymore, so il post some more pics of it installed and a review of it. im still excited. my voltage dropped to 10volts the other night!!! i need this puppy in!!!!!!!!!

REVIEW:

so i ordered an xp alternator from DC power. and i am now putting it to the test.

the alternator is putting out almost 15 volts most of the time, except when i turn up my stereo really loud, then it goes down into the 13's and sometimes hits the high 12's.

opening this thing up from the package its a beauty. well built. very sturdy and just sexy all around.

installing it into the gs was easy. i had my friend who is a mechanic do it, and he did it in under an hour. no trouble or issues with anything, just replaced the old one with the new one.

under basic car load, it works perfect and stays up in high 14.xx volts with ease. under stress of music bass its fluctuates up and down but does perfectly fine still with staying in between 13-14 volts most of the time.

only complaint from this is that my dimming, i stil get major major dimming through out my entire car. i cant blame it on the alternator all together, maybe its a ground or a different problem, but does anyone have suggestions for this?

Thats Sweet, I think you have gotten this advice before. You will need another battery to stop the dimming.

Other than that, I cant wait to get mine installed as well !

What are your other plans ?

I would recommend "the big 3" now if not first.

You will not be disappointed.

well first is first. i want.. no NEED to get this dimming fixed. its seriously worse than before i put in the alternator. i have no damn idea how, but it is! its incredibly noticable! its like a damn light show, no lie! yet my voltage is up at 14 volts so i dont get it.

and occasionally it does go down to 12 volts. im a little confused and frustrated.

i hope i dont need another battery, i didnt want to have to add more weight and more gear. u think a bigger battery would do it? REALLY need this fixed.
