Default HELP! car alarm goes off when battery is connected

Just installed a new battery and when I hook up both terminals the alarm goes off...any ideas of what is going on?? I've tried using the lock/unlock buttons on the key but nothing

Thanks, Tom

can't be.... does the horn sound? or a siren? if its a siren its one of 2 things.

1. a self powered siren
2. battery backup for alarm.

I'm leaning towards 1 because that's what the self powered sirens do when the battery is disconnected.

use your key on the dr. door key cylinder to try to kick it off. and check the siren tone, aftermarkert has multiple tones, factory is a single type.

I think you had the factory alarm "on" or something to that nature when the old battery was in the car... So when you installed the new battery, the system thinks it still "on", close the hood and all doors tight and just press the transmitter to unlock, it should go "off"...

Last time that happened to me... the battery terminals on the new battery were backwards. Hooked the positive to the negative... and so forth. Blew a couple fuses. Honked like crazy though! Know it sounds stupid... but
