I just bought a GS400 service manual CD. Has anyone ever bought one of these? The dealer sells them for 400.00. Ebay had the CD for 30.00. I assume it's a copy for that price or it's not a true lexus service manual. But for 30.00 it has the wiring diagrams which can come in handy down the road......


Any thoughts on this?? Anyone have one?

I have been considerring this cd as well, but have not purchased yet. "whitels" bought one and I believe is going to post about it as soon as he receives his and has time to look it over. sorry to get ahead of your upcoming post whitels.

It is a copy from the Mitchell series that generally sells for $2500.00.
It has some good information but pales in comparison to the Lexus manuals.
The cd has allot of generalized information that pertains to all makes and models and not necessarily to the Lexus model you own.
Still for 30.00, the price cannot be beat and is well worth it, until someone turns the guys into Ebay for selling illegal software.

The CD may be advertised for specific cars, but the same CD is for basically most of the imports. I can pull up all Lexus's to year 2000, Landrovers, Solara's, Mazda's, etc....
For 30.00 bucks, it can't be beat, but it is not he factory manual.

Many specific items rae included. Also many generic items.

That's illegal. ClubLexus should not sanction discussions of illegal actions.

If copies of Lexus GS's could be just be 'burned' would you do that too?

what i did is buy a service manual on ebay, don't know if it's an illegal copy yet..... i just wanted to figure out what i actually ordered for 30.00 since the factory manual is 400.00

It is illegal as mentioned above. No doubt about it. It is never mentioned in the ad that it is a CDR from part of the Mitchell series. So it appears legit until you get it.

However if someone is burning cars:

I assume i'm paying for a legal copy of a service manual.I just hope it's specific for 98 gs400's.

If the ebay guy is making copies ad i get stuck with an ilegal cpy. then oh well, i'm out 30.00 and have a service manual. hehe, not that i'm condoning this.
