My 430 Hesitates when you punch it!! HELP!!
Ok....I just bought a 01' GS 430....Love the car...Besides for expected mainenance I have a problem that is really pi**ing me off! For instance if I'm going around 40.......and try to punch it.....it will lag for a few seconds....and then pick up speed and shoot up rpms....otherwise.....it delays for about 2 seconds and then picks up.... I was told it could be an oxygen sensor or something to do with the MAF....PLEASSSSSE SOMEONE HELP!!

My check engine light is on and the code is for an oxygen sensor.....someone told me that might take care of it? Any truth to that? Or replacing the MAF sensor?

No need to replace the MAF sensor. Just clean it along with the throttle body. There are countless threads on how to do this. Just do a search.
As for the oxygen sensor, it most likely wouldn't cause the system to lag, but replace that anyway, it could save you some gas.

I think the GS430 they might of just tuned some "softness" or delay into the throttle so people won't be roasting their tires or jumping off the line unexpectedly. It should have maybe like half a sec to 1 sec of delay. If you're having hesitation for 2 secods or more then something is probably wrong.

Drive-by-wire = Electronically Throttle Control System. It's funny how they call it because makes you think it's driven by wire, but in this case, it's electronic.
Drive-by-wire system has a sensor to show if the throttle is at idle or at WOT. That would be the square box that is mounted outside of the throttle's butterfly.
The purpose of the Drive-by-wire is to reduce emissions as the Engineers states it. Some may not believe but that's how it is.
Almost all new cars has Drive-by-wire systems.

It also simplifies several systems in the car and allows the ECU more control over everything. One such example is that you can eliminate the idle air control valve and the cruise control actuator system/cables. Traction control used to be an extra throttle plate mounted inline in the throttle body as well, and now that is eliminated and intergrated into the single electronic throttle body. It is all controlled via the electronic throttle and done so with much more precision than their outdated multiple system counterparts.
