Default Looking at GS300 or GS430

Hi,
I currently have a 99 BMW 528i. It's really driving me and my back crazy. It's just uncomfortable after a fairly short time in it. I am about 6ft almost 300 lbs. Is the GS 300 or 430 a good and comfortable car? What are the front seats like? A lot of space? Or are they very sporty seats?

How would you compare the seats and driving feel to the ES300 or 330/350?

Also, how often do you find one with the Navigation and Levinson sound package? Is the Levinson really great sound quality?

I don't want to sound ignorant but why don't you just test drive them? It's comfy car but I personaly drove 540i and found it more attractive and comfy then GS430. That's just my 0.02.

I owned a 2000 M5. Here are my thoughts...

BMW = better handling, quicker, nav died, dash pixels burnt out, nav unit died, dash started to fall apart....with around 50,000 on it. Junk right? No. Amazing to drive.

Lexus GS400. Most comfortable quiet car you can get, without spending a fortune. The Lexus is like floating on a cloud.

Lexus GS300. Here's how fun they are to drive.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

get a gs400, same body and interior as the gs300, except the gs400 is a sleeper in disguise with a 300hp power plant and tiptronic, and also the gs400 gets the same if not better mpg then the gs300- no offense gs3 owners.

I agree! that is the best way to figure out what you like.

Also here's a tip! Do a "SEARCH"

Ill be nice. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...-gs-300-a.html but you will find more threads that has covered these questions before.

Also the ES is a total different beast than the GS.
Good luck on your purchase.

the GS3 is just as mentioned above lol, nothing too exciting to drive, comfy but not fast, which makes it kinda not fun.

Test drive what is in your market and then test drive some more. I wish I could have found a V8, but all we got is the supra engine around town. I still love my car and the tiptronic I have

Ive had the pleasure of owning both. My first Lex was an 01' GS430 beautiful car and the power and torque was amazing!! Very comfortable, And extremely reliable.

Current Lex 98' GS300 BIG difference in power! But still very nice, And is the same car with less horspower and torque!!

You cant go wrong with any of the GS models, Whether it be the 300, 400, Or 430!!
Like everyone else has said drive them, Then compare!

No worries bro, fyi the gs300's are in demand more meaning they are easier to sell then the gs4 just in case you wanted to sell yours in the future, also the insurence is much more cheaper, on top of that i think the gs300 motors can out last a gs400motor as far as longevitey goes, due the inline 6 set up. I laso believe the gs3 has a bigger rear diff.

Same here! Owned both models but GS430 is the way to go with pretty much the same gas mileage you get 80 more hourses and 100 foot more torque!!!

GS300 is great but obviously sluggish compared to GS430/400.

i was lucky enough to test out a 300, 400 and 430 when i was in the market.

out of the three, i like the 400.

overall, lexus is built solid.....almost to the point of annoyance. its a b8tch to work on. i miss the "easiness" of hondas.

I'm 6'3" and nearly 300 lb. as well. I had an '02 GS430 for 5 years, and found it VERY comfortable. I'm in an '05 LS 430 now (even more room & comfort), thanks to some chick who was texting while driving and totaled my GS a couple of months ago. The only thing I didn't like about the GS seat (and I didn't realize how much I disliked it until I bought my LS) was that the cushion was a bit short. On the LS, there is a button to extend the seat cushion by a few inches, which provides some much welcomed thigh support for taller drivers, like us. This wasn't a big enough issue to make me dislike the GS seat - as I said, I didn't realize it until I go the LS. For taller people like us, most seats probably won't feel deep enough...

I actually prefer working on my lexus rather than my Honda. The Lexus is a 99, the Honda a 98. There's so much more rust on the Honda, which makes it difficult to work on (seized bolts, etc). Lexus parts just seem to hold up much better.
