I thought I'd buy another GS430, but I didn't. I had an '02 GS 430. I bought it in 2005 with 38,000 miles. A couple of months ago, I got rear-ended HARD on the freeway and it was totaled with 123,000 miles on the odometer. I never had any problems with the car worth mentioning; it was SO reliable. I LOVED that car, and always said that if I had to replace it, I'd opt for an '05 GS 430. (I'm not a big fan of the '06-present GS body style). So, I wasn't exactly planning on having my car suddenly totaled. Finding a nice, clean, V8-powered 2nd generation GS, in the right color, with the right options on it, that doesn't have a ton of miles on it and that isn't sitting half-way across the country isn't easy. When they decided to total my car, I didn't have much time to find a replacement. I settled on an '05 LS 430 and I really like it. If I could have found a 2nd generation GS 430 for sale (that was within the guidelines for the Lexus Certified Pre-Owned warranty program), I would have bought it without hesitation. So, owners of clean, reliable GS 430s, don't take your cars for granted - they're diamonds in the rough!

With a heavy sigh I gotta say no.

And that's coming from a guy who is happy with 99% of the car. I don't want to thread hijack here but my car's vibration at 65-75mph is HEAVY on my mind. It bugs the PI** out of me. It makes me want to get rid of it and get a '06 LS. Btw, I'd love a '07 LS but they've got their own wind noise issues.

I bought the car with 42,000 miles on it in 2005. It now has 125,000 miles on it and it has been very reliable. I've got a good mechanic here in St. Louis and he's kept it in great shape without gouging me over time.

When I bought the car it only had a slight vibration at high speed but had a big problem when getting on the highway. Over time it became the high speed problem that it seems many other people have with this car that has seemingly no solution. I've tried new tires a couple of different times and even implemented a 5 tire rotation every 4,000 miles in hopes of pinpointing a bad wheel and spreading around the wear on the tires. I've had some success with this solution but, overall, the vibration just will not go away. My mechanic has done everything he can short of implementing some of the high $ "solutions" I've read on this board. This board has been a great resource for understanding that a LOT of people have the same problem and that there is no clear solution.

Anyway, silver/black, nav, Mark Levinson, Vaistech for iPod and Aux, that I love/hate. For tooling around town - awesome. For my regular drives to Chicago to visit family - irritating as all he**.

im sorry,i haven't researched any of your old posts but it sounds like you really haven't done anything especially if you haven't done some of the "high $ solutions" as you say.suspension parts get old man, things wear out and have to be replaced.

although you said you bought it in 2005 you didn't say what year it was, so lets do a hypothetical....say it was a 2001 since it had 42k on it (that would be close to the average mileage) the car was still 4 years old THEN and had 42k on it....now its 9 years old (IF it was a 2001) and thats ALOT of wear and tear on suspension/moving parts.

for MOST of us there is a solution. for some of us they are cheap for some us they arent

i changed my ball joints and got rid of most of mine (or atleast i don't notice it much anymore) from time to time i do and now im gonna change my castor arm bushings which are shot and when i do my headers im gonna change my engine/tranny bushings which i know are also shot.

sorry im not griping at you but IMHO if thats all you did,new tires and tire rotations(again i didnt research to see if you did anything im just going by what you said), then you didnt do anything really

Inner tie rods, Outter tie rods, lower ball joints, upper control arms and sway bar links and bushings all these go bad on all lexus cars.
That's where the problem is coming from.

I bought my 2001 in 2004 with 30k on it, cost me $30k.
I put l-tuned shocks and springs on it.

I love my car.
I love driving my car.
I love looking at my car when it's parked somewhere I can see it.
My wife loves my car. I didn't have a wife when I bought my car.

I drove a 2007 LS460 last week, and now I REALLY love my car.

It's such a magnificent package, a unique and wonderful blend of art, engineering and manufacturing.

They made it for me.
And I am terrified that I won't be able to replace it (one day) with something as perfect.

I have had a GS400 Spectra Blue Mica since 02
I bought my first one with 25k miles
I loved that car to death and it died I crashed...
I bought another a year later in about 06 with 60k on it
now its got 125k and I just replaced like just about everything in terms of ususal lexus stuff
I like the car i dont have the 65 vibration no more it drives alot more solid now
before this I could really feel that it had worn down not like 25k miles at all.
Leather now is in still ok condition armrest is starting to show some wear.
but overall compared to my friends 745i he dumps at least on average 500 a month on maintaince and his car is not taking wear lightly. So I am very happy with my car.
Would I buy another....
I probably would but I would want another Spectra Blue Mica GS400 with 30k miles LOL I wish I could buy it new But you cant and it is very hard to find that old of a car in mint good condition especially that color since alot of people put some 24s etc on that color.
Hopefully when my car hits 200k I can find another with 100k to replace it
or imma have to redo the whole car
