Those that know me, know i go thru cars like under wear, i don't usually keep any one car more than 10 months, 2 years being maximum.. All my friends are amazed I've had my '99 GS400 for almost 12 years while going thru 6 other cars in the last 7 yrs while steadily keeping my 400 and i'm not tired of looking at her as she has the most beautiful body style in a 4 door sedan bar-none..

Now that i have 2 of them now, A 430 and my 400. I'm on cloud nine..!! I don't really have to worry about buying another car for a long time unless i want a toy.. but truly my pair of 2GS's are my heart and soul of cars..
lol yeah you are a lucky man. i still remember when i had my gs3 that i still own now and i had my gs4 at the same time. i was on top of the world. it is going to be a different type of classic though. the car is beautiful in stock form but can me refined in so many ways. i'm sure you'd see more "resto-mod" type gs classics if it ever happened

And THIS......

Agreed 100%. The 2GS is the best designed GS IMO. If I could, I'd have a whole slew of them filling up a "Jay Leno-sized" garage, heheh. I've had my eye on a couple up for sale for a while that have been on my wish list, (if only I could hit the lottery).

I'm a new member. I have a clean, stock 2000 2GS (400). It is white, with 120k on the ticker. The timing chain/WP and pulleys done at 96K It has the Nakamichi stereo and a spoiler. I love this car! From what I have read here, I think it behooves me to keep it. I will never mod it, and, I drive it like an adult. Spirited, but not abusive. Glad to read all of the opinions here. -bk

Future Classic indeed. It's got my vote. I've gotten compliments from car fanatics, to people who don't really care about cars, young and old alike. Great post!

The 2GS obviously has a cult following and this bodes well for its status as a classic model in the future imo. I don't see many GS's around and when I do, they are usually bone stock being driven by an older person. I think this adds to the perception by some uninformed people that the 2GS is just a nice, luxury commuter car. Some people don't understand all of the potential the car has when modified correctly, looks-wise and performance-wise. A lot of American classic cars had this same perception back in the day.

Edit: I'd like to add, I think this goes for the SC's and LS400's as well. When these cars are modded correctly they look like works of art. I've been looking to get my hands on an SC and an LS400 to make the stable complete.
