Default Audio possibilities?

I've decided to keep my car after thinking about all the factors involved. I've done some searching about audio possibilities for our cars. But i was wondering what i could do with my audio system since i have OEM navigation and i can't really install a headunit.

I know 4" speakers fit in the stock location but theres a way to make an adapter out of MDF to fit 6"x9"? So i was wondering what brand-model you guys think would sound best. Also as far as amp and sub setup. I really don't know much about audio, i'm wanting to do 6"x9" all the way around and an amp and 10" in the trunk. What brand's/ types would be best? Thanks again audio gurus i'm sure this thread could help us other trolls in the audio world.

There's an audio subforum. I would search there first.

i think 6x9 are way to big...for the doors i would suggest 5 1/4 components is the best way to go

I'd definitely check the audio forum -- TONS of info there. Most go with 6-1/2" component sets for the best sound. 6x9s aren't that great. As far as brands, it's all in how much you want to spend. Wanna blow a grand on front speakers? You have a lot of options.

Thanks guys. Yea i men't 6 1/2" haha. 6x9 would be huge in our lexus doors! I've looked through the audio sub forum but there isnt much info on GS4's with oem navigation. So my question is would i be able to get new door speakers, an amp and a sub and be able to run it off the stock navi head unit? Is $700 a reasonable price range? Thanks again guys.

Yup, all will work. Door speakers will go right in after you make a 1/4" or 1/2" adapter template for the doors (take the existing speaker boxes out and take the screws out to use 1/2 the box as an outline). Cut your circle in the middles and bolt down to the OEM points where the OEM boxes were bolted in.

The amp and sub will work, too, but you'll need a "line output converter", or "LOC". A search'll have plenty of info, but basically its a $20 part you use to pull off a signal off a speaker wire to get a signal to your amp. Its better to put the sub in a box than a free-air in the hole, although a free-air does work. Just not as tight/punchy/strong as in a box.

$700 will work if you use the classifieds/Craigslist/ebay. Remember your speakers are like your brakes: the fronts do 70% of the work, so put money in those. You could leave the rears stock.

$150 front speakers
$100 amp
$100 sub
$50 LOC/wiring
$remainder savings account.

If you think I'm crazy, I'll have you know mine was cheaper.

Eclipse is out of the car audio business. that's why the subs are so cheap. Once they blow...they blow...
