Default Keyless Entry Beep

My girlfriend has a toyota rav 4. Whenever I hear her car "beep" I'm surprised by how loud it is. It's a lot louder than my GS's beep. Is this the way it should be? Or is there some kind of instrument that beeps loudly that in an 01 is just getting older?

The beep volume can be set by the dealer only. The factory default is set to medium.

Is it part of those settings that tell your car what to do when a different key is pressed? Or is this a different?

They are commonly called the C-Best settings. The Lexus documentation refers to it as the "Customize Function." You will need a factory scan tool to access it. There are six volume levels available for the key-less entry on my 02, probably the same for all the 2nd gen GS's.

Yes,yes it is.....

as for this thread. had u searched OP,u would know as ntran18 and abel said only the dealer can adjust the C-best settings and this is one of the settings in it.

little info though, if you unplug your battery, any adjustments to the c-best settings get washed away and you have to pay to have them done again
