so i received error code for O2 Sensor.. I ordered the sensor and now trying to replace it.. In the process of removing the old sensor.. had a really hard time removing it and guess why?


Previous technician who replace the O2 Sensor welded:thumbed: the new one..

I have to force it out.. took me more than an hour to remove it.. good thing is the grommet ( i think thats what its called) on the manifold is not damage..

What indicates it was welded? I've changed two O2 sensors and they've both looked like that (the threads) after the removal.

Lol! That's the way they come out sometimes. It was not welded on. When it's a pain to get loose spray some wd40 and keep going back and forth meaning loosen sensor to it gets stuck and retighten.

I check the other sensor and they all came out easy.. I don't think even if they have not been replace before it should not that hard to loosen it.. I soaked it overnight with some penetrating lubricant and still have a hard time to take it out..

They can be a PIA sometimes.
Heating with a blow torch is one way to try to get them out in good condition.

definitely not welded. Stupid heated oxygen sensors do that sometimes.....They can be a PIA.

Yeah I've had mine come out looking like that too. Make sure you use an anti-seize agent before you put on the new one. Never seize etc....

How often - or - at what mileage should I changed my O2 sensors out ??

I'd like to avoid the experience you had with it.

Only change the O2 Sensor because it was throwing codes.. as the saying goes.. "if its not broken don't fix it"
