Default What is this sound? (See Vid)

Hey guys, do you have any idea what this crazy sound is that's coming from my dash? Its related to the AC system: sounds like birds are chirping and is annoying as hell.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5e1D_pfDIs

Thanks!

EDIT: Be sure to turn your speakers up or get real close to them to be able to hear over the road noise. Its hard to catch this sound so I had to get it when it happened.

Yup I hear it... those with laptop put your ear to the speaker, thats what I had to do LoL. I havent the slightest clue how the car is built back there, but sounds like a fan that needs some lube.

Where is the fan that needs to be lubed? Is this a common issue with the GS?

Thanks!

I believe its the fan behind the glove box.

Open you glove box
Remove the insert to gain access to the filter panel
Remove the filter panel
Remove the filter
Reach your hand in there and remove any debris
Change your filter if dirty

This should fix the problem.

EDIT: i just remembered, back in my bimmer days, this noise was a sign of having to replace the entire fan. Which, let me tell you, was not a fun job!

Thanks so much for the tip, I'll give that a shot. I hope its not the fan/fan motor its self, I guess I'll just clean it out first and go from there.

I couldn't hear it at first because of the birds chirping outside my window lol. After I put the computer speaker to my ear I can hear the chirping. It's a nest in your engine bay. Don't fix the problem just let them live their.

Default Chirping sound?

I honestly don't believe it's your a/c? Drive your car with the a/c off and see if you still hear it? I think it's your springs/shocks or coilovers that sound as if they need to be greased? I have the same sound in my rear as I'm driving and the coilovers are flexing? Check it out and let us know?
