Default Dyno vs. Wideband tuning?

Hey guys, So i just got my Apexi Neo in the mail today along with a custom PnP harness. I took the setup down to my buddy's shop to see what type of options i had as far as tuning. He's got a dyno but suggested he could do wideband tuning and the dyno wouldnt be necessary. Should i just have him use wideband to tune my car? Would it be sufficient enough? Or would it be more practicle to spend the extra dough and get my car on the dyno? And for those of you with the Apexi Neo, how much did it cost to get everything tuned and running good? Thanks again!

I was under the understanding that you still need a dyno to get an accurate tune with a wideband? or any type of tuning. How do you create proper tables up and down the powerband without driving?

Dyno tune your car for sure, it won't take more then an hour. If the shop is charging you more then an hour, they are cheating you. Not much you can do with neo. So whatever your shop is charging for dyno tune per hour that's what you'll pay.

The shop that i went to charges $150 per hour for dyno tune and i ended up paying $120.

GL and keep us updated with your numbers

You will need a dyno regardless. There is a DIY thread on here somewhere on how to install the Neo. Just make sure you turn off your corrections on the neo when you drive your car to get it tuned.

I talked to my mechanic, And he said he could do it for $120 the first hour then $80 every hour after that. But it should be done in one hour. Im making an appointment this week, Can't wait to see how it goes. I want to make 265whp and 290tq, i think its very duable with my setup!!

Are you asking dyno vs street tune. pay the extra for a dyno tune. dyno>street

if you have a wide band and your buddy is willing to help you with tuning, do a street tune and have him show you adjustments to different tables. ie spark timing fuel. this will help you with future mods. a street tune will not give you numbers but can give a good tune. still suggest a dyno tune

The SAFC can't adjust timing. Only modifies fuel signal through the MAF.

exactly. Jeff, do you do all your tuning yourself? Or take it to get tuned?
