Default Purchasing a 2004 Lexus GS 300 tommorow

I have a 1998 ES300, handing it down to my sister. Ive had my eye on the G series for a while and still considering it. It has 52k miles, priced at $16k. Clean car fax. Anything I should look out for in particular? Or anything specific I should ask the dealer?

Before you but the GS300, you should reconsider and look into the GS430. Just a thought.

What makes you think that? Gas mileage is basically the same.

True that. Plus you get the power increase with the v8 It'd be worth it in the end to do it right the first time. If not the 300 is a great choice, were just trying to help with the decision. Its not like were trying to turn you to the dark side or anything.

This said dark side consists of Black, V8 GS's. Looks like we're both in it.

Make sure all power locks work. They go out quite often and are costly to fix. You should also pay attention to steering wheel shaking at about 75 MPH, it gets annoying and might be expensive to fix also if you're not too handy. Shoot...what else...? transmission should shift smooth no jerking, make some more research somewhere on here there should be detailed list of items to check in particular.

Well my main reason for not pursuing the 430 is that i cant find any within a 75 mile radius of my location. Not only gas, just maintence costs in general..

Thank you krispl for answering my question, anyone else?

No problem. Just like you I was initially looking for GS430 but couldn't find one in good shape for once and then when i found some they had **** load of miles and sellers were asking $14k-$17k for 2001-2003 with 100k miles on them! I know that they hold value but I wasn't gonna spend all that money for car with 100k + miles on it. I wound up getting 01 GS300 with 75k miles on it in excellent shape from first owner for $9300! I love it so far. Obviously not as much power as GS430 but maybe next time
