Default METRA 70-1761 - power wires good?

Can I use the power wires that come off of the metra harness to connect to my head unit?

All the DIY's say to pull ACC power from a different harness and ground to the chassis.

I'm just wondering, for simplicity, if I could just use the power, ground, and acc coming off the metra harness.

Well since I didn't get any answers I went out with a multimeter and here is the answer:

The 12v + and ground wires will work, however there is no connection for a 12v ACC.

I miss my FLUKE.

I didn't use a harness for my install, but isn't the 12 V acc, the gray wire off the factory harness? I recall the blue/yellow is constant 12v and the gray was accessory. I might have them backwards though.

They're not cheap. I had one but fried it testing HID's a few years ago.. I bought a cheap radio shack replacement but I cry a little inside every time I have to use it.
