actually its not worth spending the $ from the dealer but i will tell you the difference. the dealers one is deeper....its got ALOT more insulation behind it making it fit alot better. thats the main difference, the 3m on it is so much thicker on the dealers one making it fit more flush, mine is kind of sunken inward but looks ok to me

will do, but i dont have car ATM so it will be a few days. here are some i took when doing it.

what i did actually was i removed the oem one (so simple)
red arrow is old strip, blue arrow is new one

but it left ALOT of adhesive

so i sprayed some WD40 on it, let it soak and took a screwdriver (flathead) yes, i know this wasn't the best way but it was the easiest and.....i was gonna respray the area under it black so you wouldnt see any scratches i left. so i taped off alot of the car and sprayed some black paint in there (you wouldnt even see it but im **** bout doing things so i just did it)

actually taped more off than that just snapped a quick pic in the meantime

and here it is tape removed and painted underneath

and finished, last one is a close up

Just curious if any of you guys have gone for the black chrome look for your trim? has anyone tried painting the aftermarket trim a black chrome color? any suggestions for type of paint to use?

Another CL member suggested I do it to match my black wheels.....what do you guys think?

here is a link to the 1/4" trim for $14.

http://www.autobarn.net/custom-chrom...r-molding.html

this looks like the 3/8" that people haven't been able to find.

http://www.truckmod.com/directpart.a...tnumber=T3605C

here is 1/4" trim in many different colors (click on 36' single stripes/one color)

http://www.cowlesproducts.com/profes...le_stripe.html

I think I might try the Silver Metallic, Pewter Metallic or Black Ultra Metallic.

its really simple...peel old one out and either soak it with wd-40 or goo gone to remove old adhesive and place new one back in.....

I am finally going to re-do all the trims around my car after procrastinating for such a long time and since I will be doing some paint job the time is only right to get this done.

My question is how much trim do you estimate it takes to get the entire car done?

Thanks!!

any clue what thickness (depth) of the foam tape you used or the part # on the box? i just spent the last 10 mins looking over some and they got a ton....

push come to shove, i may end up with the OEM ones

i keep going back at forth between doing this simple mod. my trim isnt in the worst shape but its definitely seen better days, however if i do it, i think im gonna do it right and just go the OEM route. its a Lexus, not a honda, no shortcuts for this guy.

My Trim was grayish instead of Silver. I just went at it with a Clay Bar and it turned out pretty well.

Quick Reply: Bumper trim.. gone or non-existant?
