Remove the inside liner of the trunk and you have direct access to the bulbs. I hope this help.

Yes, you have to remove the trunk liner. The plastic inserts have a tunnel thru them, I used a flat head screw driver inserted in the tunnel to pry them out. The only tricky part is removing the plastic cup/tray around the "safety release handle". Look inside the cup and you will see 2 small slots, I used a small flat head screw driver inserted into the slot and one side popped out, just be gentle and don't force the issue.
