Well I know this is gonna sound cheesy, but, I'm strapped for cash and still have a bunch of the bondo brand left over from building a sub enclosure. And then I'll use evercoat for the final layer

Coo work , but I dunno about the bondo .. after time it will be showing through wouldn't it ?


But I bet there is alot of guys who would pay to get that done ... and now you can sell your work if it comes out right

Well technically you're going to need to use some filler. Totally depends on how inset you weld the plate. Plus you're going to have to build the radius of the trunk into a spot which never had it. Since this was our first time on this trunk we inset just enough to give ourselves some room to play. Still not using very much body filler at all.

Nah, people have been using Bondo for years and it's fine (especially for such a small skim coat). It's all in the prep work. Filler has just gotten a lot better in recent years.
