Final Drive on 00' GS300. 3.92? 4.08? 4.27!?
Ok, I searched and have found 3 numbers.
3.92 being the most common but I actually read in a few threads 4.27!?!?
It does not make sense that within 2years, Lexus changes the final drive from 3.92 to 4.27.
Also, 1GS3 has a final drive of 4.08.
So here are all the final drive #s I've found.
3.26 GS4
3.76 Supra TT auto
3.92 2GS3
4.08 1GS3
4.27 2GS3 (00-05) *not sure if this is right*
So, looking at this Lexus/Toyota has made at LEAST 4 different final drives but the pumpkins are pretty much all interchangable????
Looking at putting a 1GS3 diff into my 2GS3 (00') which seems to have different final drives, but researching threads show that at least the pumpkin is a bolt on affair since 1GS3 owners bolt up the Supra TT auto diffs no problem.
So 3.92, 4.08 or 4.27 for a 00' GS3?
I'm very lost here....need some solid info!
Thanks again CL!

Also, here is one of the links where it states 2000-2005 GS300 with 4.27 Final Drive.
Seems like a member who's been on CL for a bit, obviously not sure if the info is correct or not.

Etherway, you can swap just the LSD unit, so you can still keep the same final gear ratio. Jeff swapped a 3.92 into a 400 and he said he like the way the car responded. I talked to him about it and he said he did not have any issues.

Reason why I just want to grab Epik's diff is to save on downtime and putting in an LSD. Especially if it needed shimming and etc, as well my diff is beginning to hum. I'm not sure if the final drive is damaged or if it's just the guts.
3.92 to 4.08 wouldn't be a noticeable difference I'm assuming. That would be 100rpm difference or even less in terms of cruising (just guestimating).
