Default removing a heatshield

I have a 2000 GS300. I am getting a slight droning/vibrating sound from one of the shields.

The shield is in the middle section, about 2-2 1/2 feet long and crimped around the exhaust. It is well rusted and from what I can tell when under the car its squeaky where the rust is eating through this shield on the rear end of it... Can I remove this shield without a problem? What is this shield covering??

Any suggestions on how to remove it?

Greg, whats up bro. I had the same problem as you know. A lot of members, including myself, had it removed as it was the source of the "rattle" noise. If you go to Midas and just tell them to remove the heat shield, they will do it.

Go to the one in Fairview Park, they are really cool there. PM me if you have any questions

Had that on my 98. Took a small torch from Sears and brazed it back on. Can also use a round worm clamp. Usually gets loose at the ends.
