Default 02 gs300 HKS Hi-Power DIY as promised with lots of pics!

Ok guys so this was me and my buddy yesterday installing my new exhaust. I didn't really find much info on doing the job myself anywhere so I figured I would post this and maybe it will help someone. Enjoy:

First jack up the car and put it on jack stands so it won't fall on you

Now grab the longest breaker bar you have (these bolts are pretty stuck)

couldn't even get them off with the gun!

after 10 min of trying, the bolt broke off lol (its ok HKS comes with new ones)

now the exhaust if off, look ma no muffler:

OK, very important, there is a little round rusty seal that has to come off before you put on the one that came with the exhaust. Remove it or you will have to do the job twice and the new seal won't be flush (yes we ended up doing it twice lol)

Hangers for the exhaust, time to hang the new one:

Make sure you have a buddy for this one unless you want it to fall on your head lol:

now time to tighten the bolts:

Make sure its all aligned properly before the final tightening:

Left side is now finished:

Comparison to the stock one:

Now will repeat same steps for right side. Look at how dirty the factory mufflers were on top, you can gain 3HP if you clean that shiait off lol!

the bolts are nasty and rusty even though my car is in great shape:

I was laying on a pry bar. It hurt...:

inside the HKS muffler:

Both mufflers bolted on :

one more shot of the finished job:

And voila big a$$ exhaust is on the car!

Hope this helps.

wow man great job!!! I might consider in trying this out. Where did you purchase this exhaust? Also Where did you purchase your side visors. Will these fit on my 98 Gs400?

exhausts will fit all cars. these are just axle backs. even if it was catback it would fit.

Visors are from ebay much to the dismay of all the "buy jdms for $200" people. Yes both will fit. Exhaust was bought from Assaultec.com, they are in the vendor section

nope, just 4 14mm bolts and that's it man, make sure you got a long breaker bar or an air gun because they take some elbow grease to come out.

Does anyone think the tips are hanging a bit low, or is it just me? There seems to be a big gap bt the bumper and the top of the exhaust.

there are many kinds of exhausts:
cat back
axle back
header back
universal

most exhausts have a car that they are made to fit. the kind u are talking about that requires welding is universal.
u would need to weld the muffler onto you existing piping
