Default 01 Tail Light Wire harness

Guys, whats the part number for the 01-05 tail light wire harness? i switched to the 01 tail lights and i cant get the reverse light to fit wit the old Wire harness. Any ideas of where to get it or what modifications can be done to make it fit?

here is what i did when i fitted my new tail lights.

First of all you need to remove the rear cover from inside the boot area to gain access to the rear of the light unit.

First thing remove the plastic trim fixing at the location shown by the arrow. this just pulls out.

once you have removed that, you can peel back the liner and you should see something like this.

there are 2 nuts to remove from the rear light cluster as shown by the arrows.
also there is the connection for the lights as seen at the bottom, this just unclips

next step is to remove the 2 front bolts as seen in this pic, remove the 2 covers.

then you need to remove the 2 bolts using a 10mm socket

The light cluster should just lift out when all 4 nuts and bolts have been removed.

At this stage you can just swap the new rear light clusters, plug them in put on the bolts and away you go, but because the new lights have an extra running light bulb this wont light up, so an extra mod is required.

this is the plug from the new cluster

the new cluster uses 6 wires and the old one uses 5, the solid red wire in the middle is the new bulb wire.
To make it all light up I cut the red wire, and stripped some of the plastic back from the wire next to it the Green one with the Orange stripe as shown here.

And then I soldered the Solid Red wire onto the Green/Orange wire like this.

Wrap up the join with some Black tape and do the same to the other light cluster.

Fitting your new light cluster is just the reverse of removing.

The car Now looks much newer and upto date, Total time was around 1 Hour.

So does the 98-00 have 5 wires? and the 01-05 have 6 wires? or is it the other way around?

Hello,

I've also converted my outer taillights to 01 and up along with the newer harness that has a smaller bulb for the reverse, everything works other then the outer part of the brake lights of the outer taillight portion doesn't light up when brakes are applied. I'm not sure if they light up from factory 01-up im not having any light out indicator on my dash; but I assume they suppose to because it's a dual filament bulb. Can someone verify for me? Hope you guys understand what im talking about, im just talking about the tailights that are NOT on the trunk and the outer portion of those taillights/brake lights. The taillight does work on outer portion just not the brake lights. The brake and tail closer towards the trunk both work plus the brake and tail lights work in the trunk portion. Thanks.
