Key Gurus..need help figuring this out.
Long story short, had to get a new key made, got it cut and transferred the internals and transponder to the new key.
The new key starts the car perfectly fine and I can manually lock the doors by inserting the key in the door. However, it will not unlock the doors with the key in the door. I'm having actuator problems and need to use the key to unlock the door, but the new key just won't turn to the right to open the doors.
Works fine turning to the left to lock the doors.
Car is a 99 GS3
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming that you had your keys cut by a locksmith? They "traced" your old key on their cutting machine right? Those things suck! I got mine done by a locksmith and it was very rough during locking/unlocking. I was able to use a dremmel tool to adjust the cuts to match the old key as best as I could.
I think the best way to have keys cut is by the dealer, which will use your VIN number and computer to precisely cut your keys. Otherwise, you should have the locksmith check that the new key works before paying for the service.

Thanks for the response. It was cut by a locksmith, I was thinking the same thing about a wrong cut, but the key does work in starting the car and locking the doors manually, just won't turn the other direction to open the door.
