Didn't Know DMV Fails you for Clear Corners
So my car's registration was almost up and the car also needed to be inspected. Everything was going well in the inspection lane until the guy gives me my paper stating that I failed. He then told me that the sidemarkers needed to be orange and reflective and I also need an orange bulb. I then started to think of the pain in the a$$ it was on the driver's side when I originally replaced them both. He then said what I can do is go to Pep Boy's and buy the orange colored tape to cover the clear corners. When I went to Pep Boy's I didn't see the tape but instead but this kit that had both red & orange clear plastic strips in it. I basically used a scissor and cut them the same shape as the clear corner. I used two small pieces of clear tape to hold the orange strips in place onto my existing clear corners. That apparently did the trick and ended up passing the second time. I kept the strips in my glovebox to use next time at inspection.

Just the same as if you have tinted windows, no front plate, or if you've lowered your car so that the headlights are not at the minimum height, etc etc.
In CA, penalty is fix-it ticket (correctable violation). If you don't get it fixed, then it becomes a real violation.
If you don't show up to court, then you get a warrant for contempt of court.

it may be dumb but your required to have some type of reflector on the lights.
thats the whole point of the reflector. the bulb is white but since the reflector is orange, hence the orange turn signal. ever get stuck behind a person with a broken tail light and you get a nice bright white light shining on you when they hit the brakes? same thing.

Not only no inspections but out here in Pinal County they don't even check emissions no matter how old the car is or what's been done to it.
