Default Apexi V-afc work for our vvti?

A local guy wants $100 for his Apex'i V-AFC which controls VTEC, but he had it hooked up to an Eclipse. Would this work on our VVTi?

No, it won't work. VVTi is different from VTEC. VTEC is simply an on/off switch that kicks the camshaft over to a different set of lobe profile. Usually 2 sets of lobes, one for low-mid range power and a second set for top end power. VVTi is a variable system with only 1 set of cam lobe profiles, but the camshaft rotates to change valve timing/phasing. The new Honda i-VTEC system is a variable system more similar to Toyota's VVTi.

There are only two piggyback sysetms I can recall off the top of my head that will work with VVTi. There's the HKS Camcon and Greddy V-Manage.

Yes you can use it as an MAF signal modifier or as apexi calls it, Air Fuel Controller. However, he wanted to use it to control the VVTi which the VAFC won't do.

I guess I was thinking that's all it did was control variable valve timing... It could function as an SAFC, too?

As JeffTsai said, Honda vtec works different that VVTi. Vtec is a soild camshaft and is shiffted with fluid pressure. VVTi has a two piece camshaft...quite a brilliant design that many manufacturers are adopting. so they are different and the SAFC won't work.
