cool. the visors arent close at all. now i can buy them later on without worry.
so why'd you go fork mount? it seems so troublesome to take off the wheel and mount it up there as well. i like my upright ones. so fast

an update from my trip.
the wind noise is no problem. if you have the windows up and the sunroof open, its quite loud. but if you close all windows and sunroof, its barely noticeable. i even turn off the radio and its no problem.

Anyone have photos of a hitch bike rack on their GS? I don't really like the roof rack because my girlfriend and I are short. I'm only 5'5" and she's only 5'1". Also, the one that mounts off the trunk scares me because one of my friends that used to have that had damage on their trunk/rear bumper because of the front wheels. The lock or whatever he said he used was not secure and trunk acces was no existent. It seems the hitch rack would be my option since it'll provide me access to the trunk so it can tilt, also easy to mount since it's not on the roof, and won't damage my rear bumper/trunk since it mounted far away from it.

For your amusement, here is the hitch bike rack sold by Lexus dealers in Europe for GS.

Obviously, their standards are a lot higher than here.

The hitch bike rack on my LS was not made for a specific car model. Hitch mounted bike racks are usually universal. My super-simple, cheap hitch bike rack is a "Bike Kaddy" from http://www.schulinghitch.com/bike.html . I bought it in 1990 from the same Olathe, Kansas trailer supply store that installed a trailer hitch on my first LS400.

It looks like Shuling has "graduated" to making nicer hitch bike racks similar to ones from name brand companies. I suspect the hitch bike racks they now sell cost substantially more than the $40 or so I paid for mine 19+ years ago.

Last year I priced some name brand hitch bike racks that carry four to five bikes at a bike shop and they were priced from $200 to $300.

You might check eBay, Froogle, Craigslist and bulletin boards in bike shops for a hitch rack. I see a number of hitch bike racks on eBay today for less than $100.

Thanks for the info. I will probably look for a used "good" condition one. Did you ever have the hitch mount bike carrier on your GS? I've been searching all over the internet for photos but could not find any.
