Great posts about high mileage 2nd generation GS's. I wonder which engine is more bulletproof...the inline 6 of the V8?

I own an LS 430 166,000 and it will still, BOIL the back tires off, Had a LS 400 with 243,000 ran perfect,, a friend of mine had 1 with 365,000, and Trans went out, seen 1 at a car Dealership with 402,000 still ran fine, 35 yrs as a Mechanic, in the automotive and auction Industry, Thats why I drive a Lexus, I don't want to have to work on my car when I get off work, Normal maintenance only Good Luck Guys

Why? Seems like that inline 6 is a very strong motor.

He never mentioned that the 6 was a bad motor. It's a very good motor, the V8 tend's to go farther though.

I wasn't saying that. I was just curious as to what his reasoning was for thinking the V8 was stronger. I'm assuming it was merely an anecdotal opinion?

Anyways, at the end of the day both are high quality engines :-)

Wow. That's amazing! I have the same year GS300 that is about to turn 90k. Glad to hear your GS is still running strong :-)
