If you don't want to wait to long, theirs a place in Cali called Fiber Images who makes CF hoods, They claim to have the best fitting CF hoods on the market. I have one and it fits like the stock hood. Here check them out. www.fiberimages.com

i'm interested in this hood....
how much did you pay? you say it fits like stock? for real? do you have to use hood pins or does it just work like stock right?
can you still utilize the hydrolics to open the hood?

If you were going to get a hood from fiber images ask for "the high grade" hoods. They weigh a little more, however the quality is top notch. A good friend of mine is one of fiberimages' distributors. I believe the high grade costs around $400.

The idea probably got rejected because of demand.

Hey Ray,
I was considering on putting a carbon fiber hood on one condition... if there was an air scoop (similar to AB Flug's) atop the air filter portion. You're right about the carbon fiber clashing especially with our paint schemes... maybe a two layer paint job and three layers of clear coat.

Have you guys ever seen a painted CF hood? How is the finish?
I'm wondering because carbon fiber structures always have a wavy finish, especially when the part is exposed to the sun. Or in a hood's case, exposed to engine heat. Since the matrix and graphite fibers have totally opposite thermal expansion/contraction, the shape of the fibers will always transmit through the softer epoxy matrix and show up on the surface. This means that, over time, you will get a nice picture of the temperature distribution below your hood!! No matter how well you polish the surface, the waviness will reappear after thermal cycling. Newer paints tend to be soft, not helping in this respect. Maybe they use a multiple coat, hard paint - but this would lead to bonding problems. Do any of you know how they cope with this?
