Very nice , I would coat it with the resin which is easy to get ,other wise it will start to pull apart.
I used 2 part epoxy which should not be hard to get , i bought some from home depot as well as rona for quick fixes in the paint section.

This is what I'm scared of as far as durability goes. What brand did you use? Is it hard to apply evenly for that professional look?

No it is easy to apply it comes in 2 parts you just coat it with a brush as it is thick like varnish ,let it dry and then you are good. Things like clear coat paint will just soak into it instead.
I would do this but i want a wood wheel.

Wouldn't brushing leave brush strokes? How about a eggshell-sheen clear coat at a body shop--is that possible?

I was wondering about brush strokes as well as far epoxy application goes. I guess I would be looking at an smooth, even coat. Is there a type of 2 part epoxy that comes in spray form?

sakataj: Thanks. No, I don't plan on doing any other pieces. I'd be too scared to work on other people's trim because I'm inexperienced in this arena. This was my own trim, so if I screwed up, it was my own fault.

LOL. Thanks for the faith. Well, I might have time in the summer to work more on these type of projects. I may have to speak to some CL moderators also. I remember that JeffTsai was not allowed to do retrofitting for members or something like that? I don't remember the details. Maybe someone can photoshop CF onto tan leather so you could see how it looks?

After doing further research, it looks like I am going to have to apply some epoxy resin and top coat to ensure durability. Of course I have no experience doing this as well. Looks like I know what I'm doing this weekend. LOL Wish me luck! I'll keep all of you posted.
