Yep, not sure about the GS exactly, but I believe its the sensor inside your transmission housing. Which is a bit of a toughie to take a look at. On one hand, if your power steering is speed dependent, than you will also notice that you have really, really light steering all the time. P.S. Your car thinks you are doing 0km/h all the time. Which isn't all bad, at least your odo isn't racking up the miles.
If it your car does receive this info through the transmission, than, it may not be as easy as simply switching your instrument cluster, as it will continue to happen. Possible, may-be the instrument cluster itself. Have you ever pulled it out before?

I didn't think that this would happen to second generation GS.

Speedometer is tied in with the abs/vsc/trac computer. It reads off of the wheel sensors on each wheel. If I get some time tonight, I will scan the pages of the service manual.

Very interesting to connect my head up display. I think it will be very helpful

Same thing happened to me today. It worked fine in the morning and then after I got out of work I noticed the speedo wasnt working. Everything else on the gauge works. Wonder if its becuase of the snow somehow... lol My VSC and ABS lights were on priior to this.

Seems it may be a instrument cluster problem. Might be easy to just replace it with a new/used one.

Default yo

same thing happened to me 2 months ago. i thought i was going to have to buy a new cluster...

turns out to fix my problem all you needed to do is disconnect the battery for 15 mins and let it refresh itself.

try it out... seems like the easiest method listed so far....
