I am looking at buying one of these two cars. I really like both and was hoping to get some unbiased comments about the Lexus. Please let me know your likes and dislikes about the cars and why. Thanks in advance......Kurt

Not entirely on topic, but I recently chose a GS300 over a 530 for a variety of reasons:

1. Cheaper
2. Bigger: trunk in the 5-series is pitifully small
3. Quieter and smoother ride
4. Better stereo (comparing stock without upgrades)
5. More reliable
6. 530 auto trannie was constantly switching gears, drove me nuts. 540 in a six-speed would be a sweet ride though
7. None of the BMW colours blew my hair back

In BMW's favour:

1. It's a BMW (I know, the BMW name has debatable merit)
2. faster
3. More fun to "drive"
4. Free scheduled maintenance, oil changes, and brakes

The decision was a *****, but I decided that the 530 resembled too closely my 3-series. I simply wanted a more luxurious, larger car and the GS300 did it for me.

- CORNER HANDLING (will have to upgrade the suspension with LTuned at least)

BMWi
Pros
- CORNER HANDLING (A+)
- ACCELERATION (if manual)

Cons
- SHAPE (Looks like every other BMW from the 3 series up)
- RELIABLITY (you WILL be going back for RECALLS)
- INTERIOR (really cheesy interior, looks cheap)
- PRICE (You will be paying more)
- SERVICE

I tested drove both, and both have its pros/cons. I picked the GS4 because it just had more in the pros than the BMW (IMHO),
especially when a friend of mine complained about the service, and problems with his 540i.
