GS400 pulling fuel pump...gas spewing..why
When I changed my fuel filter, gas spewed from the outlet hose when I tried to remove it, so I pulled the hose from the steel fuel line going to the engine. But I forgot to pull the plastic line reducer from the old filter. Engine failed to start so pulled pump and found that I had forgot to pull the plastic line reducer going out of filter to the pump outlet hose. Well I have pulled the pump several times thinking my car problem may be the pump/filter, each time I have pulled the pump, there has never been any fuel spewing. Does the car have a pressure build up in the gas tank or something and if so then I may have a problem, since my now does not spew gas when I pull the hose off the pump assembly.

The car has a returnless fuel system from the factory with a check valve. Basically this means whenever you shut the car off, it will still retain 42psi in the fuel lines. The pressure will not build back up again until the next time you prime the fuel pump and pressurize the system(you do that by cranking the motor for a split second).

I have a 99 gs 400 that has been sitting a while. I heard the filters are in the tank. I think I might need to change my filter, do you have any handy links or pics.
