Question Door locks..works sometimes?

Got a problem.

When I lock my car with the remote, both front doors lock. But the rear doors won't lock. I thought the actuators went bad. However, the other day my factory alarm went off and it automatically locked all 4 doors.

wth? does anyone have the same problems? got any suggestions?

Depends on the conditoin of your actuators. Sometimes when its' near death, it'll work half the time, or it'll work slightly.

When you open either of your rear doors, does the interior light turn on for that door? If it doesn't the actuator is bad.

Theres a DIY for actuator replacement. Total cost is less than $10 for 5 actuators.
Search and you shall find

You can actually buy the motors on eBay for 5 bucks called "Mabuchi motors" for RC cars. I currently don't have the auction link but I had mine fixed for $80 bucks at a ocal shop in SD. I basically paid for labor.

I am glad I found this post. Lately I have been having a problem with the door locks. I am still not sure if it is the actuators. Doors dont lock randomly. Earch door lock has stopped working, but then works again. The other day after a day or so of having the car parked on the street unattended, I said to myself "let me check the doors to see if they are unlocked" guess what the drivers side door was unlocked. The door opened and no alarm activated. wow.

This is a big problem. I wonder how many times I have left my car open.

Now before I leave the car I have to go around check all doors to make sure they are all locked.

Question Toyota Actuators will work with Lexus?

Thanks for for the info.

I know I am able to remove the units, I've done the driver's side before. However, I know I will lose my patience trying to take it apart and rebuild them.

Has anyone seen a thread of someone buying Toyota Camry/Corolla door actuators?

They stated it was identical to the Lexus actuators...and much cheaper than Lexus...

Does anyone know where that thread is?

that is very interesting.
If you find out please post it on this site.
I just bought the motors to rebuild the actuators on my car.
I bought 10 motors with shipping for about 23 dollars
