Exclamation Replacement clear or colored headlight Lens: Gathering interest

Ok so here's the deal... The Sherlock Society is working on a list of new products to be introduced in the upcoming months. One of the items discussed was a replacement headlight lens. There has been quite a bit of interest from the 1st Gen GS guys and as a 2nd Gen GS owner myself you know I won't leave you guys out to dry

You would buy the lens only (so no need to pay for a new headlight housing or anything) heatgun/blow dryer your headlights open, take out the old factory lens, and install the new clear lens with the included silicon sealant and then BAM! Awesome clear headlights! Not to mention the perfect opportunity for a projector headlight conversion.

The material they will be produced out of hasn't been decided yet. The Sherlock Society doesn't mess around when it comes to quality. There are many factors that need to be considered and explored to make the best possible product. Prototypes are going to be made and combat tested (heat test, impact test, ect..) to find out which material works the best.

So for those of you with old, nasty lenses, this would be an opportunity to replace them with either a fresh, clear lens, OR a smoked, amber, blue ect. lens. You could even mix and match amber inner/smoked outer or any combination of colors!

This was offered for the 240's from Final Konnexion and dramatically changed the look of the factory headlights (at $450 for 2 LENSES, price of these would be a under $120). The Sherlock Society lenses would be professionally vacuum formed and would come with a 1 year replacement warranty.

They would be clear like:

Is this something that you guys are interested in? I'd like to make a tentative list of those interested in a set of lenses so we can see if we can get these made!

Defenately interesting... my lenses are nasty and scratched up. Would be interesting to get fresh lenses, and preferably with green tint like OEM 01+ GS (my tint is almost all gone) or smoked like Australian GS.

Speaking of headlights I have an interesting story...

I was recently having my headlight housing replaced ($325 for the larger ones, $280 for the smaller ones...or so they thought at the dealership) due to the yellowing in them. Veritek and Mike saw them at the SELOC meet. Anyway, they called me and said that the car was ready so I go up to look at them and...wham, they're chrome.

They put in the standard GS headlights, not the smoked Sport Design ones that my car is supposed to have so they are currently in the process of pulling them out and putting in the new ones. Because the Sport Designs were low volume and low production, they only sell them as the assembly which is HIDs, computers, lenses, housing, etc. They are $1,195 per SIDE since you have to buy the entire thing.

This group buy idea sounds cool. I obviously am getting new headlights, but if I wasnt I would be down.

The green tint is on the housing not the lens.

For people who have trouble reading, the price is about a quarter of $450, so around $120. Considering new headlights are around $600, ~$60 a side isn't a bad deal for fresh lenses. Clear bra them and they will last.

Oh yea, why not offer it to the SC300/400 guys also? They have it worse than our cars when it comes to yellow'ed headlights.

Thank you chrispy for clarifying everything. The SC guys are getting the thread on this as well.

Price for these will be around $120 for all four lenses.

We are considering using 3m clear bar film over the front of the lens so when it gets nasty you peel it off and put a new one on and its fresh again! No body wants headlights with that not so fresh feeling.
