Default Bank 2 Sensor 1

Just to Clarify.. is bank 2 sensor 1 before the catalytic converter on the driver side?

B2S1 is passenger side before the catalytic converter.

Bank 1 (B1) refers to the bank that includes cylinder No. 1.
Bank 2 (B2) refers to the bank opposite bank 1.

Sensor 1 (S1) refers to the sensor that is located before the catalytic converters.
Sensor 2 (S2) refers to the sensor that is located after the catalytic converters.

And even still... 5 years later, STILL saving CL members thousands in repairs off simple help. We need more ppl like Debonair. Good dude. When I changed all 4 o2s on my 01' GS430, it was off one of his posts that really helped the most.

Debonair, you rock. Some knowledge never goes out of style. Thank you so much for your significant and time-tested effort. I do have one question....If one were to use a Bosch Universal O2 Sensor in the Bank 2 Sensor 2 position...would they be availing themselves to scorn and/or ridicule? More importantly, would it adequately do the job? Figured it couldnt hurt to ask......Thanks again.

Those universal sensors suck! Especially downstream on this car, trying to deal with the big wire connector under the carpet was frustrating. I still had the same code after I installed a universal, so I ended up getting the Denzos anyway, And all the universals did was wastevmy time and money.
Universal means it doesnt belong around here.

Great website, thread, pics, etc.

My 1999 GS400 has ~150,000 miles, no CEL. Just wondering whether to replace all four (4) oxygen sensors or wait for CEL. Suggestions ?

Personally I would not change them if you have no codes. If you do decide to change them, Denso or NTK are the top brands for a replacement.

I know this thread is for 2nd Gen GS only, but do you have also these pics for the 3rd gen GS300 (3GR-FSE) RWD? These schematics are very helpfull reaching the location where the O2 sensors are connected and I didn't find these yet for the 3rd gen GS.

Many thanks for your contribution!
