Default crack in fiberglass front bumper

my buddy, James, has a decent size crack in the front bumper of his GS. he has a fiberglass front bumper.

is it poosible to fix this and paint over the work on his own (very average guy - non pro)? or shoul dhe go to a pro?

If go pro, how much should it cost to fix the crack and paint the bottom half of the front bumper?

can crack in fiberglass be fixed with bondo? If so, how easy is it to work with and how long does it take to dry before can be painted.

Its the bottom of the front bumper on his dark color GS, will it look Ok if he can somehow fix it on his own and just spray paint that part or will it be really obvious. Again, its in the middle of his front bumper a 1 inch wide crack that runs about 8 inches long.

if Bondo works, tell where to get and how to work with it? is there something else that is better and stronger than bondo?

thanks,

Ted

I have the same issue.

Body shop quoted me $400 and up. That's if they do it right and take off the bumper, fill the crack, and repaint it.

You must use fiber glass to fix the crack. It is pretty easy to fix. They sell patch kits at local auto stores.

Please provide more details on how this is done.

how expensive is the fiberglass stuff? how long does it take to do? please tell me more on how to use this stuff? would you think I can just use black spray paint to paint a portion of the bumper or will it look bad and really different from the uniform looking pain that i have now?

what do you recommend for the painting? the car is black.

thanks so much,

Ted

Its going to run under 30 dollars for materials .. and do not spray paint your lip or bumper ...

It will take up to 4-8 hrs to dry once applied and let sit for another 2 hrs ...

when sanding take your time and make sure its even ... I would recommend painting the whole bumper with the money you just saved on body work ?

Shouldn't be more that 200.
