Default 99 GS400 Steering Wheel

hey guys i have a small problem with my steering wheel on my 99 gs4. the steering on the car is very stiff and its really hard when you turn specially when you are parking the car. i drove my friend's 02 es300 and the steering is so smooth i love it and now made me annoyed that mine is so stiff lol. i didnt mind it when i bought it but now its bothering me

anybody have any suggestions or ideas on what it might be?
i checked the power steering fluid and it is good so its not that
thanks guys!!

Maybe the power steering pump? Not an expert in this field at all. Or might be the rack and pinion but highly unlikely.

sounds like your rack pretensioner. Will your wheel self return to center or do you have to make it? If you have to pull the wheel back to center I would suspect that someone over tightened your pretensioner to get rid of the 60mph shake. .

Steering wheel on the GS is stiffer than in the ES. Different cars. I have both and I like more the stiffer in the GS

Can anyone comment on this?

Did anyone get their pretensioner tightened and noticed a decline in smooth shifting?

Thanks.

I had that problem after i took my car to the dealer and had my woodgrain steering wheel put on. I took it back to them and they told me they torqued the steering wheel to much.

Yes... I all have to live with this, between other peculiar things. Drawbacks of our fantastic cars...
