Default Strange noise when I accelerate

So for the past month or so I have notice a strange noise when i accelerate hard. It sounds a little like a whine. Under the hood and not at any wheel. It obviously gets louder when as the RPM's pick up. Maybe like the serpentine belt or something. I dont know if this is enough info. Anyone ever had this? Last time I checked I didnt have a SC under there.

All help is appreaciated.

Might be the alternator. Sometimes they whine really loud like a S/C

I just put a sat radio tuner in the car and I'm getting alternator whine. Same thing with the Ipod into the aux in. Any ideas how to fix this?

if you are getting the alternator whine, it usually means your alternator is about to die. have it tested.

You can also get alternator whine as a feedback in the speakers if you have a dual-battery setup for your system. I doubt thats what you have. It could be a lot of things depending on the mileage from the alternator to a timing idle pulley going bad on you. Whats the mileage on the car?

Everyone thinks my truck has a supercharger....but its just the alternator. It actually overpowers my flowmasters when I punch it.

Invisible superchargers FTW. My friend's car makes funny noises under hard acceleration too. It sounds like there is a rock in his exhaust system.

It's probably his catalytic converter coming apart.

Check the power steering fluid level, it could be low.

I told him that too, but hey... It's his car. I can't tell him what to do with it.

My Mom's friend's RX300 would make a whining noise when you rotate the steering wheel more than about 100 degrees to the right.

yeah, I havent checked that yet. Will do when i get home. To describve the sound more in depth it;s like it the serpentine belt is rubbing on a wall or something. Still baffled.

Yeah, american cars have really really loud alternators for some reason. I remember the old car I had, you could actually hear the alternator over the factory S/C!!! lol
