Ok, well I' not sure if you guys will warrant this as a valid upgrade, but I do.

Here's my reasoning behind this:
1) Bigger filter = more filtration area per pass of oil
2) Bigger filter = ability to catch more dirt and contaminants before filter is blinded/clogged
3) Slightly more oil capacity = more oil to catch the bad stuff.
4) Since it can catch more stuff, technically you should be able to use this for a longer period of time. It will be beneficial for those of you that run extended mileage synthetic oils such as Mobil1 or Amsoil
5) It's $11 at AutoZone. Good price for a high quality big filter!

Stock filter is 3.8" tall while this one is 5.2". It will for sure fit on the GS300, but I'm not sure about the GS400/GS430. Make sure you have an additional 1.5" of room to confirm that the longer filter will fit.

Added a few pix of the stock size Mobil1 VS the big K&N. Notice how much further the K&N sticks out in the engine bay compared to the Mobil1. Couldn't sleep so I decided to work on the car a bit lol(yes, it's 4AM ). If you're wondering why half of the motor is disassembled, I'm in the process of upgrading the fuel system .

yes it may have more filtering capabilities, but wouldn't a Bigger oil filter screw with your oil pressure?

I run a bigger filter as well (Amsoil EA).. My car takes 6 full quarts. The Amsoil EA filter I believe, is the same size as the K&N When it comes to oil filters, it is all about the filter media, not the shell.

I just bought a regular K&N at Advanced Auto and there price went up.. It cost me 13 dollars and change.. I've been using the regular size filter since i bought the car and on my previous cars as well..

I guess a bigger filter won't hurt the engine it should only help the engine.. correct..

How does it compare to Denso Genuine Toyota 90915-20004 Oil filters that are made in Japan in term of filter materials? I just changed my oil filter to 90915-20004.

I also use the AMSOIL EA oil filter. I have used it for the last 3 years with no major problems. I feel good knowing that I have that extra oil in there.

The oil pressure should not be affected in any way. I keep a good eye on the AMSOIL oil filter 0-ring though. The last filter I had looked as though the rubber 0-ring swelled slightly allowing a little bit of oil weep around the filter.

No major leak or anything like that, but any oil around the filter is a concern in my book. That small o-ring around the stock Toyota filter seems to seal the best in my opinion.

How often do you change your filter? I never had a drop of oil on mine with 7k between changes.

I use the Landcruiser filters. They're typically labelled 8A, or 8-something by most manufacturers. They're quite a bit larger than the aftermarket filters for the GS3/4. I usually put in 5.5 L rather than 5.2 to make up for the size.

I've never thought about the oil pressure issue. What sort of problems, setbacks could this effect? Performance, gas mileage? Greater filtration is nice and all, but frequent oil changes basically nullifies it anyway. I'm all confused now.

i also have been using the kn primarily for the nut at the end makes it easier to remove

i dont believe filter area is any larger i believe the casing is larger

Stock filter is as good as it gets for the 2JZ, not sure about the V8 though.
