Unbelievable!!!! Struts Out @40k. Ext Warranty.
It was unbelievable when i heard from the dealer that my struts were out, I had only put 42k miles on my GS430. I was fortunate this time, because last year I purchased Lexus Backed extended warranty, which was the same exact warranty from the factory when u buy the car brand new, but just extended for three more years or 75k. The whole repair was covered under the warranty. My Stering was so loose, and the car was so bouncy, I just thought It was normal, until I heard the cluncking noise from the from right side. I gave so much thought when I bought the waranty thinking all sorts of things that it is Lexus may be I shouldn't buy the extended warranty, but feel good atleast more than half of the cost of the warranty cost if paid off by this repair. Imagine my struts going out right after the warranty expired after three years. Got lucky this time. So i guess it is not always a bad idea to buy an extended warranty, if ur not so familiar with the brand. Anybody experienced something similar yet. Hope this helps to some if they are debating to buy extended warranty or not to.

Not to pour water on your fire, but I think warranties are like a coin flip. In your case you might come out ahead by the time it's up but my last 2 warranties (5/75K) were never needed before the the time/mileage limit was reached. I feel like they were a waste of money that could of been spent better elsewhere.

True
I had the LEXUS 75K warranty and not the Generic Rip You Off warranty company.
75K Lexus Warranty at the time was $2500.
at 65K, I had the following changed out.
New $2,200.00 Headlights and HID bulbs....free...small condensation
New $225.00 Condensor....free...losing pressure
New $445.00 Shocks OEM...free...Lextech test ride, lost rebound
New $134.00 Idler Pulley...free...slight squealing
New $1,100.00 Optitron Dash...free...not bright enough
New $275.00 Front Ball Joints...free...squeaky.
New $375.00 Front Lower trailing arms...free...unable to align to spec.
New $675.00 Download new GPS software...free...delay in the search route mode.
The Service manager at my Lexus dealer in Chicago is awesome. She has helped out several other CL members in the Chicago area. It helps that it was the Lexus Platinum Warranty.

no sorry, not the same.
Mine was the Lexus Platinum Extended Warranty.
This covered the car till 75K, it was under the Lexus New Vehicle Warranty Division and Service. As I can recall, 0-48K miles was the factory New car Warranty, 0-60K was the Gold Warranty Upgrade, and 0-75K miles was the Platinum.
The CPO or "Certified Pre Owned" Lexus warranty is good.
Buy a CPO Lexus..now you will be covered for the next 3 years or (100K miles) ...with some exclusions.
http://www.lexus.com/cpo/overview/warranty.html
but only if you really use it. The real thing is to
1. Use it and be able to replace parts...that are costly to replace out of pocket.
2. Find a Lexus Service Manager that will call it in for you to get the parts OK'd for replacement.
