GS430 against 2002 540i 6speed sport
Hey moderators, I know this might be a wrong section, but I am sure some GS owners would like to know how well our GS can do against BMW 540i 6 speed, so Sasha, let this thread be here??
2001 and up BMW 540i 6 speed has been on my wanted kill list for a while, I hardly seen any "young" driver in the 540is, but I was lucky enough to race one last nite on highway 80 east.
I was on my way to Lake Tahoe snowboarding, it was 5 am and I was doing 85 miles in the fast lane. I saw some nice HID approaching to me, I knew its the new BMW 5 series in the instant because of the angel light. It is black, with 17''s sport package rims. He caught up to me, and I pulled to the right to see its badge, NO license plate yet, and it was a 540i. I slowly accelerated to catch up to him, and we were even at 90 mph.
I slowed down a bit to see if he was up for it, He slowed down as well, then I knew the race was on. I stepped on the gas first, and started pulling, then he downshifted and quickly gaining to catch me. I knew it is a 6 speed by the way the car shifted. By the time we hit 110, my car still kept half car length ahead. It stayed that way all the way until 125, then I started gaining slowly. We stopped when we hit 145 mph, and we both gave each other props, it was a very close race, I was actually amazed by its power on the high end. Nevertheless, It was a great BMW kill with a cool driver.
I couldn't wipe that grin outta my face until we hit Lake Tahoe an hour later, and so is my gf.
Gotta love my GS.

Nice run. As the GS has more hp, especially given your mods, it is not surprising it would start to pull at the top end. However, your 20" wheels may slow you down a bit also. Given the fact the 540i was pretty new and likely stock, the cars are so close it will come down to the driver as always.
I am dead even with a 540i6 until about 80mph then I start to slowly pull.
