Default DIY Fender Rear Shave

So, after I installed the wheels:
EXE-Konvex 20x9 front and 20x10 rear. +37 and +35 offsets

and tires:
Dunlop Sport Maxx 245-35-20 / 285-30-20

and took a ride with Patrick, Bing, his brother Joey, and his son, I noticed that there were some rubbing issues between the sidewall of the tires and the fenders. After much research of how people have done it I took it into my own hands to do it my way.

In this picture you can see the rear fender and the tire and how it rubbed.

This is how it sits

So here we go! follow along!

Loosen the lug nuts

Jack your car up and use a jack stand for safety as well

I remove the jack so that it isn't in the way

Remove the wheel completely and keep all your tools and parts together so you won't lose them

Now you will need a phillips head screw driver. Only 4 screws to remove and here is where they are.

You'll see that the lining piece will come off like so

once again leave all parts and tools together as so you won't lose them

depending on your set up you will have to remove what you need. i measured mine and i was going to take a little more than half an inch off

the next step is to tape it off so that what you want to keep is under the tape. this will halp later from scratches etc...

now you are going to need a dremel tool, reinforced metal cutting wheels, safety glasses, and gloves.

simply follow the line and be carfeful. take your time and do it right the first time.

i'm cutting lines into the fender to take it off later here

after only 4 inches i used up a whole wheel. *pointer - dremel a line first for the whole line you want to cut and work your way going back over the line again and again. this will save you some bits*

just keep going and you'll be done in no time. once you are done sand off the edges and use some touch up paint and you will be set to go! the whole project took me 1.5 hours since i was scared to mess up. but good luck and happy shaving.

End result:

I will be doing this very very soon. Mine is pretty much a constant rub right now... Need to change out the 265's for 235s and get a little shave and roll action going on and all will be well!

Oh and for the front end fenders they are pretty much already rolled. I am pretty low witha lot more aggressive wheel set up than you and I dont rub one bit in the front no matter how big the bump.

Nice little DIY thread...Seems like your car would not need that especially sitting so high.

it has the stock suspension on it now and with 3 grown adults that aren't really skinny in it, she scrubbed bad. with as many bumps and potholes as we have in my area it needed to be done. it is getting lowered really soon. i purchased a used suspension from a friend of mine who is going from kyb struts and eibach springs to tein coilovers. they only have 10k on them and he hooked me up. but he hasn't switched them out yet so i am waiting. in the mean time i'm getting the car ready. i like how she sits now for practicallity issues. but for show purposes i'm going to have to lower her.
